I think multimedia tools are a double-edged
weapon. These have both advantages and disadvantages. In this class, I could use many kinds of
multimedia tools like twitter, pinterest, blog and canvas.
There are three reasons why I like using
multimedia tools. First, I can get useful information from multimedia tools. In
this modern society, there are different ways to obtain information. If we
use multimedia tools to search something, we can save time. Second, we can
discuss and make friends with people all over the world through multimedia
tools. In other words, we could interact with various people. We can chat with people
on the other side of the world and celebrities! Last advantage is saving advertising
cost. Usually people who have smart phone use one of multimedia tools. So advertising
on multimedia tools is the most effective way.
On the other hand, there are disadvantages to
use multimedia tools. First, there is too much information especially false and
unreliable information. Ordinary people can’t distinguish between right and
wrong. It’s a big problem. Second, multimedia tools are an infringement of
privacy. These sites lack privacy. So I delete Facebook account. Finally, sometimes multimedia tools are
waste of time. Searching gossip all day long, watching music videos and video
clip etc...Of course, it is distraction.
There are pros and cons to use multimedia
tools. So we have to utilize multimedia tools reasonably.
Last class I used ‘Pinterest’
for the first time. I’m interested in this tool! It is very fascinating site
that I had never seen before. I can collect and gather data effectively through
pinterest. There are massive materials about diverse categories for example
travel, recipe, fashion and so on! I will use pinterest to prepare travel for summer
vacation J
I agree your opinion. Using multimedia tools can be dangerous to people because there are a lot of wrong information in them. So, people including us have to learn how to use accurately and distinguish between right and wrong.
ReplyDeleteWell, as for my opinion, it's pretty much the same. I think we need to fight against the prevalence of indiscriminate information, too. But with technology advancing at a fast-growing rate, we must use multimedia tools such as twitter, pinterest, blog and canvas in a proper way.
ReplyDeleteI had a similar experience to you about Facebook account. I stopped doing Facebook because of privacy risk and excessive advertising.
Like this, we should know pros and cons, so we try to use multimedia tools appropriately.
I really agree with your opinion that 'double-edged weapon'. Multimedia tools are very attractive and useful, but we have to adopt that informations they give us.
ReplyDeleteI think so too. Canvas, Pinterest are useful for me but I don't like Twitter because of similiar reason. I think SNS is that kind of double-edged weapon. It can make some people feel comparative deprivation.
